Costs incurred by retailers that take card payments
The EIU has the power to get retailers a better deal from card providers, they have setup an online survey in order to gauge the opinions of local retailers into the costs incurred accepting payments by card and cash.
We would urge as many retailers as possible to fill this survey in!

Town Centre Partnership Launch Event
Newcastle Town Centre Partnership welcomes you to join us at our launch event which takes place from 5 till 7pm on Monday May 13th, at the old Sugar Cane shop (soon to be Newcastle College’s MADE here Gallery), 13-14 Lancaster Building, Newcastle Town Centre, ST5 1PG.

Newcastle Lymelight Festival
Newcastle-under-Lyme is proud to announce the towns first FREE music and arts festival in Newcastle town centre taking place on the first bank holiday weekend in May - Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th & Monday 6th!
It will be a free event with activities throughout the town:
1. Main Stage (top of Ironmarket): 30 local bands & artists performing on the main stage over three days of the bank holiday (Sat-Mon)
2. Buskers : Local (quality) buskers will be positioned throughout the town to entertain shoppers

Rates Reduction Agency Scam
It has come to our attention that a scam has been operating in regard to a Rates reduction agency. Someone is going around the town offering to act for businesses to obtain a rate reduction and is asking for an up-front payment. This is a scam and we suggest that you do NOT part with any money in advance. Most genuine agents do not ask for a payment in advance.
If you are approached, please take as much information about the person as possible, such as description, age clothing and advise the Police. Please also contact Trading standards. Beware!

More Volunteers in the Frame for CCTV Roles
Surveillance of CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras in Newcastle town centre is to get a further boost following the success of a pilot initiative.
Newcastle Partnership Against Business Crime is launching a recruitment drive to find another eight volunteers to help man the control room after a three-month trial.
Six residents signed up to monitor 18 cameras for an extra four hours on Fridays in May as part of plans to improve coverage at peak times.
The partnership, which includes Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council and Staffordshire Police, is aiming to increase.....read more
